Introduction

Absence management is a problem for many employers. Not only is it disruptive but it is expensive when the cost of covering absent employees and dealing with the loss of productivity is taken into consideration. Understandably, managing absence can be worrying for managers due to concerns about potential claims of unfair dismissal or disability discrimination.

In this virtual classroom seminar, we will look at the issues that need to be considered when managing sickness absence. What needs to be done to both support an employee who is unwell, and meet the requirement of getting the work done?

Suitable for anyone advising those employers and claimants, this session will examine the issues that need to be considered when managing absence and will explore the difficulties that line managers might encounter.
