Introduction

This new virtual classroom seminar is suitable for those who act for landowners, crofters and developers looking to utilise croft land in connection with renewable energy projects.

The session will provide you with knowledge and practical examples of how renewable development can take place on croft land and the legal tests and processes that are required to be met before development can take place.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • Current crofting legislation and the provisions relevant to renewable development
  • The difference between crofts and common grazings
  • The methods by which renewable development may take place on croft land, looking at:
    • De-crofting
    • Resumption
    • Schemes for development
    • Section 5(3) Agreements
    • Reserved rights
  • When and where each method may or may not be suitable
  • The process for seeking approval from the Land Court and when this is needed in a renewable context
  • Recent case law

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
