Data (Use and Access) Bill - An Introduction
Introduction
The Data (Use and Access) Bill, led by the Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology, was introduced on 23 October 2024 in the House of Lords.
The Bill amends the UK GDPR and the 2018 Data Protection Act on certain aspects of individual rights, purpose limitation, reliance of legitimate interests for marketing, scientific research and automated decision-making.
It also introduces access to smart data, digitisation of the Births and Deaths Register and supports easier access to personal data in the NHS and in Police investigations.
Fortunately, it does not propose changes to the accountability framework and retains the Data Protection Officer role and requirements for Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Presented by data protection expert Robert Bond, this short webinar will provide you with an invaluable introduction to the Data (Use and Access) Bill.
