Digital Assets, Cryptoassets & Estate Planning - The Complexities Unravelled
Introduction
Digital assets are an area of private client that has gained momentum as we move into an ever more digital world.
From the rise of cryptocurrencies and NFTs to the way in which we manage our day-to-day lives, you are hard pushed to find a client who does not have some form of digital asset.
It is becoming more important for those practitioners drafting wills, advising on estate planning and dealing with probate and administration of estates to have a solid understanding of the practical considerations in this area to ensure they are able to advise clients appropriately and keep pace with the ever-evolving nature of the digital world.
This webinar will address these issues and give practical guidance that practitioners can implement.
In today’s world, practitioners need to be guiding and advising their clients to ensure their wills properly take account of their digital assets, and that clients are advised on essential ‘life admin’ that ensures their executors are properly equipped post-death as well.
Case law is still limited in this area but, given the rapid development of the digital sphere, it is crucial that practitioners are prepared for what may come, and the introduction of the Property (Digital Assets, etc.) Bill is likely to see more case law coming through in the future.
