Disability Benefits - Preparing for Change
Introduction
This short webinar has been developed to help people prepare for forthcoming changes to the benefits system as it applies to people with illnesses and disabilities.
The recently announced Green Paper contains proposals which will be of seismic importance to working-age people, who are claiming benefits such as Personal Independence Payment and Universal Credit.
The webinar will correct errors and misunderstandings, set out the likely timeline for change, and provide practical advice about how claimants can best prepare for what lies ahead.
Please note that the course is not suitable for specialist benefits caseworkers and will not address immigration-related benefits issues.
What You Will Learn
This webinar will cover the following:

- A section on how the changes will affect people claiming Universal Credit on the basis of having Limited Capability for Work
- A section on the proposals to change the PIP scoring system and remove future entitlement to people who do not score sufficient points
- A section on the changes specifically aimed at people aged under 22, which will prevent their access to some aspects of the benefits system
- A round-up of ideas such as the ‘Right to Try’ work, the ramping up of the ‘active engagement’ requirements, and how the DWP is approaching all this, given that there is a shortfall of 2,000 work coaches nationwide
