Introduction

Advising families who have children (or other family members) with disabilities can be complex and challenging - the need to navigate wishes and feelings against the need to maintain a package of state support, and the recognition of the ever-increasing pressure on the availability of benefits and state funding means that effective advice for families is essential.

This new virtual classroom seminar is aimed at professionals used to drafting wills who want to gain a greater understanding of the issues and complexities facing families with a disabled member as to how best to provide for their loved one.

It will explore the various issues and options and will look at how practitioners can add value and support families facing these challenges, as well as help them to navigate the wide-ranging decisions they face.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • Pros and cons of a discretionary trust and s.89 compliant trusts as options to provide for disabled beneficiaries to enable families to make the choice that is right for their circumstances
  • Lifetime and will planning - how, what and when?
  • The importance of the letter of wishes
  • Resources and other sources of additional support for clients

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
