Introduction

Presented by specialist practitioners, this virtual classroom seminar will provide you with a valuable insight into firearms licensing, including conducting appeals against refusal and revocation of firearm and shotgun certificates.

The classification of firearms and ammunition will also be covered to ensure that the correct certificates and authorisations are applied for, together with police licensing powers and firearms law relating to landowners. The new statutory guidance on assessing the suitability of certificate holders and applicants, implemented by the Home Office in the wake of the Plymouth shootings in 2021, will be considered.

There will be useful practical advice to give to your clients from advising those who are facing firearms charges to those clients having to deal with growing delays in renewals or temporary seizure of their guns while their certificate is reviewed.

The session is aimed at practitioners whose clients shoot or own land on which shooting takes place and those who advise on behalf of shooting organisations together with police firearms licensing managers and enquiry officers.
