Introduction

Narcissistic personality disorder (‘NPD’) is not as well recognised in the UK as it is in other jurisdictions. It is however a very real condition and it is vital for anyone working in the area of family law to have an understanding of exactly what you might be dealing with.

NPD is a condition usually caused by a trauma suffered in early life and causes an individual to behave in a very particular way.

This virtual classroom seminar will help family lawyers to recognise and understand the effects of this condition in order to be able to provide your clients with the best possible service.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • What is narcissistic personality disorder and how can you recognise someone who suffers from this condition?
  • Why, as a family practitioner, do you need to understand NPD?
  • Communication strategies when one of the couple suffers from NPD
  • Out of court resolution - does it work when one of the couple suffers from NPD?
  • The court process - how to best represent a client suffering from NPD/their spouse
  • Issues regarding children and what to look out for
  • Your own wellbeing - how not to become ‘abused’ as a professional within the process
  • Top tips to manage the narcissistic client and/or their spouse

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
