Introduction

Pensions are one of the most efficient estate planning tools, but they come with their own complexities, rules, and bear traps for the practitioner to navigate.

The recent changes to the Lifetime Allowance have, in some ways, simplified matters, but complicated matters in other ways - possibly leading to a revised approach. And we can also look ahead to the proposed introduction of IHT to pensions, and consider how that might change the strategy.

This new virtual classroom seminar is suitable for those who advise private clients on estate planning matters, whether part of a legal or tax advice service.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • Pension freedom - eight years on…
  • Current IHT treatment of pensions - when it applies and when it does not
  • Understanding the proposed changes to IHT treatment, announced in the Autumn Budget, and how that might alter strategy
  • Revisiting the position considering the changes to the Lifetime Allowance
  • It’s not all about the tax! - bear traps and practical considerations
  • Dealing with complex family circumstances
  • Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
