Introduction

As online platforms have become central to public discourse, both the EU and the UK have introduced landmark regulatory frameworks to address the growing threat of disinformation.

The EU’s Digital Services Act (‘DSA’), applicable since February 2024 to all designated Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) and Very Large Online Search Engines (VLOSEs), sets out ambitious obligations to ensure transparency, accountability, and systemic risk mitigation—including disinformation.

In parallel, the UK’s Online Safety Act (OSA), fully in force since late 2024, imposes duties of care on digital services to tackle harmful content, including false information that could cause serious harm.

While both frameworks aim to protect democratic integrity and user safety, they reflect different regulatory philosophies and enforcement mechanisms.

This virtual classroom seminar outlines the key elements of both acts, compares their approaches, and examines recent enforcement trends, offering legal professionals a clear overview of this fast-evolving area.

This course is tailored for legal professionals (including company and commercial lawyers), corporate executives, compliance officers, risk managers etc. who must navigate the rapidly evolving EU and UK regulatory landscape in the digital sphere.
