Introduction

This webinar is aimed at those involved in high value, complex claims arising from clinical negligence or personal injury. Spinal infection is an increasingly common problem and the consequences are often catastrophic. The value of claims is therefore often large and may well justify periodical payments.

By viewing this webinar you will understand the ways in which infection can start and spread (often suddenly) and the overlap with sepsis claims. Failure to understand the impact of spinal infection may result in undervaluation of a claim.

This webinar will also update awareness of the pathology and its different presentations. You will be given advice about appropriate experts and the preparation of witness statements dealing with the progress and effects of spinal infections.

What You Will Learn

This webinar will cover the following:

  • Brief introduction to normal spinal cord anatomy
  • Explanation of the different kinds of infections which may arise in the spine
  • Explanation of the impact of sepsis and its effects on spinal cord function
  • Overview of possible areas of clinical negligence
  • Preparation of litigation and guidance as to the use of factual witnesses
  • Deployment of experts. Specialisms likely to be needed
  • Quantum issues commonly encountered in these claims

This pre-recorded webinar will be available to view from Wednesday 18th December 2024
