The EU Data Act - An Update
Introduction
The EU Data Act came into force on 11th January 2024 and will apply from 12th September 2025. It obliges manufacturers of connected products to make use-related data available in certain circumstances. It also requires providers of data processing services (such as cloud services) to facilitate customers switching or porting to a different provider. The Act is extra-territorial and will apply to manufacturers and providers that put devices on the EU market.
