Introduction

This new virtual classroom seminar will be a guide to those who act for people unable to deal with their property and financial affairs.

This practical session will cover from first instructions to sale, if relevant as well as everything in between to ensure that the owner of the property is protected and that the deputy/attorney has considered everything.

The session is suitable for solicitors appointed as an attorney or deputy and members of their teams who undertake day to day management of these cases.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • A step-by-step guide of how to deal with property when appointed as a deputy or attorney
  • Compliance with Deputy Standards
  • What Court of Protection applications are needed, if any
  • How to protect the property from fraud
  • What restrictions to put on the title
  • When the house can be used to pay for care, including deferred payment agreements and equity release, as well as when it can be disregarded

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
