Introduction

Presented by Franki Hackett (member of the ICAEW Ethics Advisory Committee) this session will consider why a changing technological, legal, and working landscape means accountants are facing new and complex ethical problems. This course satisfies the new mandatory ethics training requirement for all members of the ICAEW as well as focussing on emerging issues.

How do you maintain technical competence in the face of new AI-driven accounting approaches? How do you ensure confidentiality in the era of big data and online platforms? What does integrity look like in a polarised world with very different generational ethical norms?

As accounting adopts new technologies, new ways of working and new clients in an increasingly complex regulatory environment, there is a risk that we expose ourselves, our professionals, and our organizations to significant legal and reputational consequences of we don't stay up-to-date in our ethical approaches. As membership bodies increase the mandatory ethics CPD requirements for members, it's more important than ever to invest in training in this area

This virtual classroom session will revisit the fundamental ethical principles through a series of up-to-the-minute examples, highlighting emerging ethical risks to auditors and accountants and giving practical advice on how to identify and resolve ethical concerns. Moving beyond the classic ethical dilemmas, the session will help you to identify and respond to new risks through interactive case study examples designed to help ensure you remain relevant as trusted advisors and leaders.

You will learn how to assess and respond to common and emerging ethical threats, as well as how to seek help and address ethical missteps, informed by national and international ethical standards.
