Introduction

Reports can be commissioned under section 37 and section 7 of the Children Act 1989 and now there is an increasing rise in s16A reports as well.

This virtual classroom seminar will provide an overview of the law relating to the 3 different types of report and will equip you with an understanding of the different functions these reports provide and the circumstances in which they are employed.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • What section 37 reports are for
  • What section 7 reports are for
  • What section 16A reports are for
  • When a request for each report should be made and practice points as to employing the request
  • Why the different reports might be employed and sought by the court
  • The powers available to the court when a direction for such reports is made and in particular the associated orders as to child arrangements, and public law orders
  • What might happen after a report direction is made
  • What practitioners should look for in the different reports
  • Consideration of whether the court can sanction multiple reports
  • Consideration of relevant caselaw and rules as to the use and challenge of such reports
