Introduction

For too long our case reports have been overly weighted towards the often extraordinary high net worth cases.

This webinar aims to look at how we apply the principles of financial remedy work to the issues which regularly arise in cases of more limited assets. It will highlight the most useful modest resource cases which are sprinkled through the law reports and look at how we can use these to address the issues such as need, debt and maintenance where departure from equality to meet need is the usual outcome.

This webinar is for the specialised family law practitioner who has a regular caseload of ancillary relief matters, in the Financial Remedy Court rather than in the High Court.

What You Will Learn

This webinar will cover the following:

  • The issues which regularly occur in modest asset cases, such as debt, small housing budgets, limiting costs, maintenance and meeting need with limited capital assets
  • Provide a discussion of some of the less well known solutions used to meet those challenges
  • Consider a number of reported modest asset cases
  • Look at how those cases can be applied, sometimes in conjunction with the higher asset reported cases, to the issues of lower asset division

This webinar was recorded on 19th February 2024
