Introduction

FND claims pose specific challenges to PI lawyers and the experts they instruct.

The condition is contentious. Claimants suffering from FND/FND-associated symptoms may be the subject of input from experts in multiple disciplines. Experts will approach claims in (subtly) different ways depending on their specialism.

A sound understanding of the current strands of medico-legal opinion relating to the aetiology diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the condition will ensure that practitioners maximise their client’s position.

This virtual classroom seminar will briefly consider historical developments in the understanding of FND. The current state/range of medico-legal opinion will be examined.

You will be introduced to how the controversies/different approaches to the condition influence the management of medical evidence and the selection of experts. Consideration will be given to the prevailing arguments, tactical considerations, and potential pitfalls. Guidance will be given on how to best prepare and manage cases.

Upon completing the live session, you will be well placed to successfully to deal with FND cases.
